This is a blog about my jouney of taking care of my Grandma, who is actually my great grandmother. I'm hoping to track grandma's life in her 90's.
I am currently on a temporary leave from work to help my family get settled in with taking care of Grandma in our home, until we can decide where she will continue to live out her life, whether it be in our home, or in an apartment with 24 hour care.
I guess I should start with who everyone is, that will surely be named in my postings.
First and Foremost...
Grandma...Phyllis is my great grandmother who is 93 and will be 94 years old on May 26th, 2011. She recently came home due to safety concerns from her being in an assisted living that was not staffed 24 hours a day. She recently was discharged from the hospital where she was diagnosed with CHF (Congestive Heart Failure) and Brochitis, oh yeah, and she has dementia, which makes things a little hectic, repetitve, and funny.
Bubba...Stephanie is my grandmother, and has been married to my grandfather for 45 years. They own the home where we all live. My Grandmother is disabled.
Grandpa...Billy is my grandfather, and is also disabled. He has Multiple Sclerosis, and has been disabled since I was 2 years old.
Uncle Frank...Frank is my uncle and lives near by. he has two children who I will call C & W.
Aunt Sonya...Aunt Sonya is my Uncle Frank's wife. I was a Jr Bridesmaid in their wedding when they got married :) She is the mother of C & W.
My Mother...Jackie. Well, My mother is my mother LOL. She lives about an hour away, but we are close and I talk to her every day.
John...John is my mothers fiance.
James...James is my little brother from my mother. He is going to be 10 in July.
Jacob, and Matthew are my Children, Grandma's Great Great Grandchildren.
Steven is my Husband of 5 years, and father of my 2 children :)
Please be sure to follow via GFC so you can see how much you can make in a loved ones life, just by caring for them at home (if possible) Most things you do for a loved one at home, you need special training, such as a Nursing Assistant, or a Home Health Aide. I hold a License for Nursing assistant in Both Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.I have 4 1/2 years expirence in my field. If you feel that I do something WRONG, please just comment, conversations are welcome.
